Katie Demyan ’14

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

“I am a typical, hands-down band geek who has always been interested in math and science. I’ve gotten to do so much more than I ever expected at WVU.”

It should come as no surprise that Katie Demyan is a proud Mountaineer. Raised in Randolph County and the daughter of a WVU engineering alumna, Katie says WVU was her first-choice school. A choice she will cherish forever.

Despite the time and effort associated with having a double major, Katie has immersed herself in the WVU experience. She studied abroad. She belongs to a national service fraternity. Active in 4-H when she was younger, she stays involved as time allows. And she’s the drum major for the Mountaineer Marching Band. “At WVU, I’ve learned what I really want out of life, and for me it’s about making a difference and contributing to something bigger than myself.” With plans to one day work as an engineer developing sustainable vehicles, Katie enjoys every moment of student life. “Playing Simple Gifts never gets old,” she said.
